Description

CSTS visit to:

The Three Counties Medical School

University of Worcester

Thursday 7th December 2023

 2.00 -4.00pm

We are fortunate to be introduced to the Three Counties Medical School, and invited to visit their special new building, the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson building, named after the first woman in Britain to qualify as a physician and surgeon.

We will be shown their facilities, hear about the establishment of this new Medical School, their work and have a Q&A session with Professor Kay Mohanna.

Dr Leo Donnelly will demonstrate the Anatomage Table which visualises and simulates 3D anatomy and physiology with a virtual dissection table. https://anatomage.com/table

The University of Worcester is highly rated for graduate employment, its commitment to sustainable development goals and its close knit, high achieving community, with about a third of its 10,000 students studying a health-related course.

The Three Counties Medical School’s first intake started studying in September 2023, and in 2024 will receive government funding for 50 places for home students, from a national total of 200 new funded medical school places across the country.

There is an emphasis on enrolling students with a connection to the three counties, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and Herefordshire, and widening the diversity of those studying medicine.

They will work closely with local NHS trusts and, when qualified, contribute to the local NHS workforce.

We will leave Cirencester at 12.15 and leave Worcester to return home at 16.15.

Our coach will be provided by Barnes coaches, the cost per person will be determined later depending on numbers.

To book your places please email Chris Stevens , as soon as possible, I will confirm your places and provide more information.
